The RSI Clinic is an innovative medical clinic specializing in the assessment, treatment, and research of Work related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSD) and other soft tissue injuries.

The assesment and treatment of RSI remains a controversial issue. There is no widely accepted definition for RSI. We believe that the proper assessment includes a complete physical and musculoskeletal evaluation. Further assessments may include a physiotherapy assessment with a focus on biomechanical issues, psychological assessment, and a surface EMG assessment to evaluate muscle recruitment and fatigue.

Proper treatment of RSI includes a focus on myofascial release to allow muscles to work efficiently and effectively. Treatment should include adequate education to allow individuals to adopt healthy work habits and exercises for maintenance.

Once the required assessments are completed the findings are discussed at a weekly clinical staff meeting. At this meeting an effective, individualized treatment plan is proposed. The treatment of these types of injuries requires that individuals take responsibility for making changes in their approach to work and other activities.
